Candace & Seth – Married 08/17/09

Candace & Seth got the perfect day. It was supposed to rain, but did not. Instead it was sunny and warm. The event was very sweet and everyone took Monday off to share their special day. You could not have asked for a better time.

Dear couple, thank you for allowing me to be part of your day.

Michele & Jim – Married 06/27/09

June 27 was probably the one Saturday of the season when every photographer in town was booked and it so happened to also be the first Saturday in June with no rain. That made my day and made the bride very happy. She was very concerned a week prior, but it turned out fantastic. The ceremony took place at Cliveden House which is such a great place, with a lot of history in Philadelphia. The reception took place at the Gathering Place in Mount Airy. That venue is amazing with a really cozy and relaxed atmosphere.

Jim, Michele, It was a privilege to shoot your wedding day. I wish you a long and happy life together.

Natalie & Jim – Married 06/20/09

Everything that was a part of this wedding was incredible even though the weather was not very accommodating. But lately it seems Philadelphia has been moved to the state of Washington and should be on track to beat Seattle for the most rainy days in 2009.

The day started with some photographs taken inside the bride’s parents’ residence in Elkins Park. The flowers were provided by Penny’s Flowers in Glenside. After some classic pictures we headed to the Ceremony location, Saint James church in Elkins Park, PA. The ceremony was simple yet elegant.

We then moved on to the Reception site, the Ace Conference Center.

Congratulations!

Melissa & Peter Married 5/30/09

“Unforgettable wedding” is all I can say. Everything was perfect. Gorgeous weather, neither too cold nor too warm, and it got better as the day unfold. Melissa was beautiful while Peter presented a collected and calm appearance. A very productive day. Thank you guys for letting me document the day.

CFL – Burning and Smoking

Today at 4:15am Eastern Time, a CFL bulb started to emit a sizzling sound and emit smoke. I turned off the light switch and let it cool off. I removed the bulb. It had been working properly since March 2008 in that same spot.

The bulb is a GE Helical 15W 120VAC, 60Hz, 230mA, FLE 15HT3/2/SW. UL Rated, made in China. It was installed in an open ceiling lighting can in a basement facing downward.

Hadn’t I been around that area it would have been a firestarter? should I be concerned about the other bulbs installed? I am all for saving energy but not burning my house down at the same time.

It seems Energy Star knows about it although in my case it did not look like the bulb was going to self extinguish itself. This GE bulb was UL rated.

Note the melted tube on the top of the bulb.
